Jajpur: Jajpur District Magistrate P. Anvesha Reddy on Saturday informed that the number of diarrhoea cases in the district is gradually declining.
To control the spread, the administration has launched extensive disinfection drives in the affected areas.
“We have deployed two to three teams in each panchayat to carry out decentralized disinfection. All Junior Engineers, including those from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) department, are on the ground. Block Development Officers (BDOs) and senior officials are also actively monitoring the process,” said the District Magistrate while speaking to reporters.
Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers are conducting door-to-door visits to identify diarrhoea cases at an early stage and are referring affected persons to nearby health centers.
The district administration has issued a health advisory urging residents to drink only boiled water or water treated with halogen tablets (4 mg per liter). People have also been advised to avoid outside food, especially during the ongoing ‘Raja’ festival and to consume only freshly prepared home-cooked meals.
“We have advised people not to use pond water for bathing or other purposes. Only properly disinfected water should be used. Disinfection measures have now been completed in all affected areas,” the District Magistrate added.
In addition, district authorities have collected food samples from various hotels.
“If bacterial contamination is found, we will immediately seal those establishments. All hotel owners are instructed to maintain hygiene, provide clean drinking water to customers, and avoid serving stale food. Any violation will lead to strict action, including closure of the hotel,” she warned.
The administration continues to monitor the situation closely and urges public cooperation in adhering to the preventive guidelines.
