Bhubaneswar: The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on Monday convicted former Odisha-cadre IAS officer Vinod Kumar and two others in a case of corruption which was registered by the State Vigilance in June, 2009.
The court convicted Kumar (ex-Managing Director, ORHDC), A Anand Rao, Ex-Assistant Manager, ORHDC and Radha Ranjan Pattanaik, Ex-MD, SFLCC for sanctioning house building loan to 20 employees of State Federation of Labour and Construction Cooperative (SFLCC) Ltd, by accepting forged documents.
The Court sentenced Kumar and Rao to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs 50,000, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 6 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and U/s 120-B/467/468/471 IPC.
The Court sentenced Pattanaik to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs 50,000, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 6 months for the offence U/s 120-B/467/468/471 IPC.
Biswananth Mishra, Ex-DSP, Vigilance Bhubaneswar Division had investigated the case and HK Swain, Special PP, Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
