Bhubaneswar: In a significant crackdown on corruption, Odisha vigilance sleuths have placed Rama Chandra Mishra, Joint Commissioner of Excise, Bhubaneswar, under arrest in a disproportionate assets (DA) case. Mishra will be produced in the court today.
Searches conducted at his multiple properties revealed an astonishing array of assets, including six multi-storeyed buildings, two flats in Bhubaneswar and Bargarh, 52 plots, and approximately 230 grams of gold.
On being questioned about the details of properties, Mishra was unable to give any satisfactory account for these assets.
Mishra, who joined government service in 1988 as a Sub-Inspector of Excise, was promoted to the rank of Inspector of Excise in 2009, Superintendent of Excise in 2018, and Deputy Commissioner of Excise in 2021.
In 2024, he was appointed Joint Director of Excise and posted at the Directorate of Excise, IPICOL Tower, Bhubaneswar.
