Bhubaneswar: Jharkhand Police today identified three of the four mutilated bodies found on the railway tracks between Talaburu and Kendaposi stations on Odisha-Jharkhand border in the wee hours of Saturday.
Cracking the case, police made a shocking revelation that a family dispute over a tamarind tree led to the tragic death of a family.
Three of the four mutilated dead bodies found on the railway tracks have been identified as that of a 35-year-old woman and her two children from Tungubasa Tollah in Nurda village, police said.
“The deceased have been identified as Raibari Sinku (35), her eight-month-old son Sagar Sinku and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Raimuni Sinku. All of them were beaten to death by their family members over a dispute pertaining to a tamarind tree. Later, the accused threw the bodies on railway tracks to give it a name of suicide. The deceased woman’s 15-year-old daughter had, somehow, managed to escape from the clutch of the assailants. The matter came to light after she disclosed the truth to police”, said West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police (SP).
It is learnt that Raibari’s husband Binu Sinku works in Pune as a migrant worker.
Police arrested five persons in this connection. The accused have been identified as Raibari’s brother-in-laws and uncle-in-law. The accused are reported to have tied Raibari to the tamarind tree and beaten her to death. The accused reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
However, identity of the fourth dead body found a few metres away from the spot is yet to be ascertained. Police are still trying to establish his identity.
