Bhubaneswar: Given the rise in temperature at different places of Odisha over the last few days, the Directorate of Public Health has directed all Chief District Medical & Public Health Officers (CDM&PHOs) in the State to prepare a comprehensive action plan on preventive measures for the management of heat stress disorders.
The Director of Public Health has written a letter to The Director of Capital Hospital, BBSR/RGH Hospital, Rourkela; Superintendent of all Govt. Medical Colleges and Hospitals; All Chief District Medical & Public Health Officers; and Health Officers of all Municipality/Municipal Corporations in this regard.
The aforementioned health officials have been asked in the letter to submit a copy of the comprehensive action plan to the Public Health Directorate by 1st March.
“Heat wave changes usually occur from April- June in our state. Currently, the temperature has started rising in the last week of February at different places across the state. As you are aware heat wave changes may cause heat stress disorders like, Heat Stroke, Heat Exhaustions, Heat Syncope, Heat cramp, Heat Rash etc., the district authority needs to plan preventive and curative measures to reduce morbidity and mortality in the community. In this context, brief guidelines on preparedness are enclosed herewith for your reference. Each district should prepare a brief comprehensive action plan and send a copy of this to this directorate by 1st March 2024,” the letter read.
