Dhenkanal: A woman allegedly attempted to commit suicide in front of the main gate of the Collector’s office here today.
Police rescued the woman and have seized a can of kerosene, a box of matchsticks and a bottle of poison from her possession. She has been taken to the Town Police station for counselling.
According to reports, the woman identified as Kamala Jena of Balarampur village under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits had a dispute with her neighbour over land. She was also allegedly attacked by her neighbour.
Kamala had complained to the police over the attack. She has alleged that instead of taking action, the police have abused her.
On Monday, she had complained over the matter during the joint grievance camp at the office of the Sub Collector but in vain.
Today after sitting on a dharna for a while in front of the main gate of the Collector’s office, Kamala attempted to commit suicide. She was rescued by the Town police.
