Bhubaneswar: The Health & Family Welfare Department has asked all District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and CDM & PHOs for monitoring of Covid-19 vaccination in private hospitals.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) PK Mohapatra today wrote a letter to the aforementioned officials to instruct the District Health Team to monitor private hospitals on a regular basis for compliance of all SoPs related to Covid-19 vaccination including display of price being charged for vaccination.
As per the letter, presently, in Odisha, Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar and HCG Panda Cancer Hospital, Cuttack have started vaccination through their own procurement and more private hospitals are in the procurement process.
It may be pointed out here that under the Liberalized Pricing and Accelerated National Covid-19 Vaccination Strategy, private hospitals can procure vaccines directly from the manufacturers and they have to register in Co-WIN with due approval of the district administration.
Further, these private hospitals have to declare the prices to be charged for vaccination in a proactive and transparent manner and publish the vaccination calendar, which should commensurate to the vaccine doses procured by them, the letter said.
The letter says that it has been noticed by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) that the guidelines are not being followed by private hospitals and instances have been reported where private hospitals are either not displaying the price being charged per vaccination or charging different price than what has been publicized.
In order to enable citizens to make an informed choice, MoHFW has advised that complete transparency has to be adhered to with respect to pricing by the private hospitals, the letter adds.
