Bhubaneswar: In the flood-hit areas of Rajnagar in Kendrapara, a doctor of a local health centre has become a beacon of hope. Due to the overflowing Brahmani river, low-lying areas have been submerged, disrupting communication and leaving many stranded.
When a pregnant woman, Sanghamitra Rout from Chakiban village, was experiencing severe labour pains, an ambulance couldn’t reach her village due to the floodwaters.
Without hesitation, Dr. Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty and his team braved the treacherous waters, walking through the flooded areas to reach Sanghamitra’s home. They then carefully transported her on a trolley to the ambulance, which took her to the Rajnagar Community Health Centre for urgent medical attention.
His selfless act has earned widespread appreciation from across the district. As a medical officer, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to serving those in need. Dr. Mohanty is also known for his work in other areas, including antimicrobial resistance and has been associated with Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College.
His dedication to his patients and willingness to go the extra mile in emergency situations have made him a respected figure in the medical community
