Bhubaneswar: New Year is to be celebrated after a gap of two years without any Covid-induced restrictions. As people are in a celebration mood, many tend to forget traffic rules in the excitement. It may be dangerous to them and other people on the road, said Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh on New Year’s Eve on Saturday.
Singh requested all to avoid overspeeding during driving any vehicle, obey the traffic limit of 50 km/hr within the city, don’t drive under the influence of alcohol, and instead take a driver while going to a party. Police checking will be carried out tightly at several places for the New Year. Strict action will be taken against traffic violators.
As many people come to Bhubaneswar for the celebration of Zero Night and New Year, and the city denizens also come out of their houses for the celebration, traffic congestion is expected in a few places. More traffic is expected at Janpath, Nandankanan Road, Cuttack Road, and Rasulgarh.
All information related to traffic will be shared regularly through FM. Regular traffic updates will also be shared on the Twitter handles of DCP Bhubaneswar, and DCP Traffic.
Singh also requested all to park their vehicles at proper places and ensure that they are locked properly. Don’t leave the vehicles on the road. The towing team will be keeping a watch at all places and any vehicle parked on road or in no parking area will be towed immediately.
People seeing any suspicious person or facing any emergency situation can dial 112 for immediate help from the police, he added while extending New Year greetings to all.
