Bhubaneswar/Khurda: In separate encounters in wee hours of Thursday two dreaded criminals were injured and subsequently nabbed.
In first encounter, dreaded criminal Sushant Majhi aka Belia was injured in a confrontation with Bhubaneswar Police at 3.30 am Thursday at Kalinga Nagar in the Capital City.
Based on a tip off, Police located Belia at K-7 area in Kalinga Nagar. Upon spotting the Police, Belia fired shots at them. The Bhubaneswar Police gave apt reply to the notorious criminal which resulted in him getting injured. Belia has received a bullet in his left leg. He was nabbed and is currently under necessary treatment.
Belia has as many as 10 cases lodged against him in and around Khurda and Police were on a lookout for him. Sushat aka Belia was absconding for last two months after a shoot-out incident at Khurda.
The second encounter occurred at Khurda, notorious criminal Jamshed Khan was injured and nabbed after a face-off with a combined team of Tangi and Nirakarpur Police.
Acting on confirmed information, the joint Police force raided the location where Khan was present. Khan bombed the space and fired shots in an attempt to escape. However, he received a bullet in his left leg and was nabbed. He was first taken to Khurda hospital and then to Bhubaneswar hospital for treatment.
In the exchange of fire, four Police officials were also injured. They were transferred to nearby hospital for treatment.
Jamshed is a dreaded criminal of Khajuria village under Nirakarpur block.
The double encounters show that Police is dealing with the criminals an iron hand.
