Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Assembly Naveen Patnaik has slammed the State budget, stating that the “double engine government” is moving in reverse gear.
Patnaik criticized the government, saying that economic growth and industrial development have declined under its rule ¹.
The double-engine government has failed to deliver, Patnaik said. “Farmers are suffering, and some are even committing suicide due to the government’s inaction. The common people are struggling with high prices, and unemployment is on the rise.”
“Under this double-engine government, the economic growth of the State has declined. The industrial growth has also declined. I wonder whether the double engine is going in reverse direction,” Patnaik pointed out.
Patnaik also expressed concern about the welfare of women under the Mission Shakti program, stating that they are in distress. He questioned the government’s spending habits, asking, “What is the meaning of a budget if you are unable to spend money?”
The criticism comes after Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented a Rs 2.90-lakh crore budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year, with a focus on agriculture and irrigation
