Bhubaneswar: A double engine government is needed in Odisha to accelerate development of the State, said Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs & Jal Shakti Biseswar Tudu at the Odisha Nirman Conclave-22 organised by Kanak News in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
“The benefit of double engine government is the State definitely follows the schemes and direction of the Centre. But if an opposition party is in the State, it will never acknowledge the Centre while implementing a Central Government scheme,” said Tudu.
While stating that many works remain pending in the States that don’t have double engine government, the Minister also said that if the politicians understand that they are working for the development of the people who have elected them, there is no need of a double engine government.
Tudu also accused that some Central Government schemes have not been implemented or have been rechristened by few State Governments.
When asked about the Mahanadi and Polavaram issues, Tudu said that once the matter is in the court of law, the outcome cannot be predicted. The matter can be resolved through mutual understanding between the concerned States and the Centre is ready to solve the issue.
