Sundargarh: In a shocking incident, a woman and her daughter were brutally murdered in Gada Tumulia village under Hemgir police limits in Sundargarh district on Saturday.
The double murder, allegedly carried out by a man named Rinku, is believed to be the result of a long-standing family feud. The victims have been identified as Bilasini Sui and her mother Rukmini Bhaisal.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday around 4 PM. Bilasini, a widow, lived with her younger son, while her mother Rukmini had moved in with her to provide support. The two women had gone to a nearby tube-well to fetch water, leaving the house locked as Bilasini’s son was away. On their way back, they were allegedly attacked by Rinku, who was armed with an axe.
Rinku first targeted Bilasini, striking her with the axe and leaving her in a pool of blood. When Rukmini tried to save her daughter, she too was attacked and suffered fatal injuries. Both women collapsed on the spot and succumbed to their injuries shortly after.
Rinku fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Locals informed the police, who arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that the attack was rooted in a long-standing enmity between Rinku’s family and the victims’ family. Bilasini’s husband had passed away some time ago, and she had been living with her son and mother since then.
Hemgir police have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation to apprehend the accused. The brutal nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the village, with residents demanding swift justice for the victims. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
