Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a married man and his teenage girlfriend were found hanging from a tree at Alipur village under Salipur police limits in Cuttack district, on Saturday.
The deceased, Manoj Samal, 30, was a resident of Alipur village, while the teenager, 17, hailed from a neighbouring village Paga.
According to sources, Samal was married five years ago and had a three-year-old son. However, he had been in a relationship with the teenager for the past few months.
The girl’s father reported her missing yesterday evening, and a complaint was filed with Paga outpost. However, the girl’s family were unaware of Manoj’s relationship with the teenager.
The teenage girl allegedly visited Samal’s residence, from where they both departed together and subsequently went missing. Since Samal didn’t return home last night, his family searched for him but couldn’t find him.
Villagers were taken aback to spot the bodies hanging from a tree in a secluded area under Salipur police limits this morning.
Meanwhile, police have seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. Police are probing the circumstances leading to the double suicide.
