**Koraput:** Five kids were dramatically rescued by two local youths from a swelling river at Narayanpatna in the district on Sunday.
The kids of Harijan Sahi had gone to take bath in the nearby river Jhanjha on Sunday afternoon when the river suddenly swelled due to heavy rains in the upper catchment areas.
The kids were unable to swim ashore in the rough water and took shelter over a rock in the middle of the river. They cried for help which prompted several local youths to come to their rescue.
They took help of a bamboo to rescue the kids and brought them ashore one by one.
This timely and brave act of the local youths is being applauded by many which ultimately saved five young lives.
