Bhubaneswar: Tribal woman leader from Odisha, Droupadi Murmu, secured victory in the Presidential poll on Thursday. Below are the details of the salary and other benefits she will be receiving as the 15th President of India.
1. Rs 5 lakh salary per month.
2. A pension of Rs 1.5 lakh after retirement.
3. Free housing and medical care and Rs 1 lakh annually for office expenditures.
4. Official residence – Rashtrapati Bhavan – with 340 rooms and a floor area of 2,00,000 square feet.
5. Two official retreats to go on vacation. One in Shimla’s Mashobra the other in Hyderabad’s Bolarum.
6. Free train and plane travel across the world.
7. Custom-built Black Mercedes Benz S600 (W221) Pullman Guard. A heavily armoured stretch limousine is also reserved for the president’s official visits.
Apart from the above, a President also has several cars and a bodyguard. There are some other post-retirement benefits for the President of India, including one furnished rent-free bungalow, two free landlines and a mobile phone, five personal staff, Rs 60,000 a year for the expenses of the staff, and free travel with a companion by train or air.
