Balasore: The driver of a container was burnt alive in a horrific road accident occurred near Laxmanath Tollgate on National Highway No. 16 under Jaleswar police station in Balasore district on Saturday night.
The vehicle lost control, collided with the tollgate, and burst into flames. Unfortunately, the driver inside the container was burnt alive, and it is suspected that the helper may have met a similar fate.
Tollgate employees said that the truck rammed into the fence in lane 6 and crashed into the tollgate before catching fire. While the tollgate was severely damaged, no employees working there were injured.
The accident took place late at night when the container was entering Odisha from West Bengal. Upon receiving information, the fire department and Jaleswar police reached the spot and initiated efforts to control the situation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have been exhausted and dozed off at the wheel, leading to the fatal mishap. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
