Cuttack: A running car caught fire while the vehicle was proceeding towards Bhubaneswar from Cuttack. The incident took place the vehicle was crossing the over-bridge near Madhupatna square on NH 16.
The flames started emanating from the engine of the car, said sources. As soon as the driver spotted smoke and flames, he stopped the veicle and abandoned it. The driver’s escape was narrow as the car was moving at a high speed, onlookers said.
A police team and fire service personnel arrived at the spot and helped in dosing the fire. However, by that time, the vehicle was charred. Fire service personnel said the mishap could have been triggered by a short circuit.
