Bhubaneswar: The drivers from across the State had assured that their protest would be peaceful, however, the protesters entered the city and resorted to violent activities on Monday, DCP Dr Umashankar Dash said.
Taking strict note of the activities of the protesters during the Driver Mahasangha protest, three cases have been lodged by Bhubaneswar UPD. The CCTV footage are being examined, and action will be taken against the trouble makers, said Dash.
“The Commissionerate of Police was aware of the protest and the Mahasangh had committed that they would remain on city outskirts, while their leaders would come into Bhubaneswar to hold discussion on their demands. But the leaders lost control on the Mahasangh members, many of whom resorted to vandalism,” the DCP added.
Some vehicles have been damaged, common public troubled and ruckus due to traffic congestion was common place in Bhubaneswar on Monday, as the Drivers from across Odisha, resorted to unlawful activities at many places. The police said that strict action will be initiated against anyone from any part of the State.
