Puri: A drone video of the Puri Shree Jagannath temple has gone viral on social media, sparking concerns about the temple’s security. The video, posted by a young man named Neelkamal Sahu on Instagram, shows a drone flying over the temple and capturing footage of the flag-changing ceremony atop the temple.
The video has raised questions about the effectiveness of security measures in place, particularly given that the temple premises are designated as a no-fly zone by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and local authorities.
This is not the first instance of a drone breach, with similar incidents having occurred in the past, including a recent one on May 30.
The viral footage shows a drone hovering close to the temple, capturing clear visuals of a Chunara Sevak climbing the high structure to hoist the sacred flag atop the Nilachakra. The sevak is seen acknowledging the drone with folded hands, further fuelling public discourse about the audacity of the violation.
The incident has prompted calls for stricter measures to prevent such breaches in the future. Despite the temple’s strict security protocols, drones continue to fly over the premises, raising concerns about potential security threats. The authorities have been urged to take concrete steps to enforce the no-fly zone and prevent such incidents from recurring.
