Malkangiri: Kudos to a drone shot for which precious lives of several security personnel were saved during an anti-Maoist operation in neighbouring Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district today.
According to reports, before launching a massive operation against the red rebels in Aaranpur-Kondabali area of Dantewada district, the CRPF on reaching Aaranpur forested area received intelligence inputs that the former were present at a distance.
Following which the CRPF conducted a surveillance of the area using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fitted with a camera, reports added.
Reports further said that pictures captured by the camera fitted on the drone (UAV) revealed that Maoists had dug-up the road to be taken by the CRPF men at least at 30 places.
Following the input, security men changed their strategy and reached these spots with caution leading to seizure of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)s from ambush laid by the Maoists, reports added.
Thus a drone shot could avert a major mishap and save precious lives.
