**Angul:** When the people of Odisha thronged to the nearest water body to celebrate ‘Boita Bandana’ ritual at the crack of the dawn on Kartika Purnima, an 18-yr-old girl of Odisha’s Angul district had a watery grave as she got drowned in a well. It occurred in Mahidharpur area under Banarpal police limits.
Sources say that the young girl identified as Sobhamayee Nayak had gone near the well to fetch flowers for the festival at 4 am in the morning. While plucking flowers, she slipped into the well accidentally. Her family members rescued her immediately and rushed her to Angul DHH for treatment. But she was declared brought dead by the doctors.
In another such incident, an 11-yr-old boy named Subham Rout hailing from Nuagada village under Anandapur PS drowned while sailing the toy boat as a part of Kartik Purnima celebrations in Kusei River.
Similarly, two youths got swept away by sea current at Chandipur beach in Balasore while taking selfie during the .They were rescued by NDRF personnel.
