Bhubaneswar: A Special Enforcement drive was conducted by Excise Department during April 19 to April 25 to control NDPS-related crime in the State. In this period, the enforcement squad filed 184 cases and arrested 188 accused persons.
Total 2642 kg of Ganja, 1028 Grams Brown Sugar, 165.8 Litres of codeine-based cough Syrup, cash of Rs 13 lakh and 19 vehicles were seized. The total seizure value has been estimated at Rs 2.86 crore, a department official said.
During the period the field officers are regularly monitored from the Excise Directorate. Ganjam District reported highest number of cases (14) followed by the Cuttack district with 11 NDPS cases.
