Bhubaneswar: Puja pandals in Bhubaneswar are known for setting up life-life structures of various type of themes. These themes range from ancient monuments to daily occurrences in life. Among the top 10 puja committees here, Nayapali has set its own distinct identity, by setting up pandals with unique themes.
This time, after a hiatus of two years due to COVID, the Nayapali Puja committee has setup a gate resembling an Old Age Home. The huge gate has rooms, doors and windows showing elderly, sick and senile people sitting and resting in the big house or the ‘Vriddhashram’
“Nayapali Durga Puja Committee has been here for the last 35 years with the love and affection of people of this locality. We have always spread a message for society with our gates, pandal and toranas. This time it is a message to youths to take care of their parents instead of ignoring them,” a senior member of the Puja Committee said.
An artisan from West Bengal engaged in making the idols at Nayapali said that he has devoted his life to serving Maa Durga and has been coming to Bhubaneswar since one decade. “We stay here for three months and do our best to make idols and ‘toranas’ of Maa Durga,” he said.
