Bhubaneswar: Cuttack city, famous for Durga Puja, witnessed two mishaps due to heavy rainfall triggered by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. Heavy rainfall has dampened the Dussehra festivities in Cuttack.
According to reports, a light gate at College Chowk Square collapsed due to the downpour, but fortunately, no one was injured as the area was deserted.
However, in Rajabagicha, a puja pandal’s roof collapsed, injuring three people. The incident occurred when the puja was going on. The injured were immediately rescued and admitted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Also, the heavy rain led to power outages and waterlogging in nearby areas, with the district administration working to clear the roads and restore electricity. Despite the chaos, the festivities are expected to continue, albeit with some disruptions.
