Bhubaneswar: With Odisha currently grappling with intense heatwave conditions, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has assured consumers that there will be no power cuts during the peak hours of the summer season this year.
Singh Deo, who holds the Energy portfolio in the state government, has instructed the electricity distribution companies (discoms) to refrain from cutting power supply, particularly during the daytime hours of summer.
“In the event of a thunderstorm, if electric poles are knocked down, replacement may take some time. However, in many areas, power restoration has been completed within a couple of hours. During yesterday’s CM grievance cell in Sambalpur, we ensured there were no complaints related to power cuts,” said Singh Deo.
The Deputy CM further highlighted that the new power management model being implemented this year is proving to be highly effective.
He also assured consumers that any complaints would be addressed immediately. “Unpaid bills will not result in power disconnections this summer, but consumers will still be required to pay for the electricity they have consumed,” he added.
