Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Saturday inaugurated newly installed sanitary napkin vending machines and disposal machines at Loka Seva Bhavan.
The initiative aims to significantly enhance hygiene for women on the premises, marking a progressive step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive workplace.
During the inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with female employees of Loka Seva Bhavan, actively addressing their concerns and grievances. She reiterated the government’s commitment to providing essential facilities that promote a safe, healthy, and supportive work environment, catering to both physical and mental well-being.
The machines have been strategically installed for easy access, including in the ladies’ toilet complex adjacent to the Central Lift Lobby on the second floor and the Ladies’ Common Room. These locations ensure convenience for employees and women visiting the premises for grievance redressal.
Plans are in place to extend these facilities to all ladies’ washrooms in the building, further enhancing accessibility and fostering a hygienic and inclusive environment.
Parida was joined by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department Usha Padhee, and Principal Secretary of the Women & Child Development Department Shubha Sharma.
Following the inauguration, the Deputy Chief Minister, accompanied by senior officials, made a surprise visit to the crèche within Loka Seva Bhavan.
She interacted with service providers and children, noting the existing infrastructure and operations. The need for a larger space to accommodate more children was highlighted, and a proposal for expansion is expected to be finalized soon.
