Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo chaired a meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan to discuss the construction and operationalisation of cold storage facilities across the state. Emphasising the importance of strong agricultural infrastructure, Singh Deo directed departmental officers to expedite the process, focusing on cold storages and godowns.
The government aims to establish at least one cold storage in each sub-division, with several companies already submitting applications. The initial process has begun, and efforts are underway to implement these projects swiftly.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the fertiliser supply situation and stressed the need to reduce black marketing. The meeting outlined the department’s future work plan and strategy, focusing on empowering farmers and improving agricultural infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Horticulture, Kalunge Gorakh Waman, Director of Soil Conservation and Watershed, Subrata Kumar Panda, and Additional Secretary, Subhransu Mishra.
