Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Empowerment, and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, on Saturday reviewed the progress of mega pipe water supply projects underway in Balangir and Sonepur districts.
According to an official press release, a total of 20 mega pipe water supply projects are currently being implemented in rural areas of these districts, with 14 in Balangir and 6 in Sonepur. Additionally, 8 projects are being executed in urban areas of the two districts.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo emphasized the state government’s commitment to prioritizing farmers’ interests and addressing residents’ needs. He stated that the timely completion of these projects would provide much-needed irrigation facilities to farmlands and resolve the drinking water issues faced by the people of Balangir and Sonepur.
The Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite project implementation and personally monitor progress by visiting the respective villages and towns. The review revealed that almost all projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Usha Padhee, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, SN Girish, and Director of Drinking Water, Vineet Bhardwaj. They provided updates on the current status and outlook of the projects.
