Bhubaneswar: In order to review the ongoing e-assembly project work, Union Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Dr Rajendra S Shukla and Joint Secretary Dr Satya Prakash are on a three-day visit to Odisha.
Making a courtesy call on Odisha Assembly Speaker Dr Surya Narayan Patro, the Central team highly appreciated the e-assembly project underway.
They also opined that the progress made by the Punjab and Odisha Assemblies is remarkable.
While a review meeting on this e-assembly project was also held at Chamber No 54 on the premises here, Odisha Assembly Secretary Dasarathi Satpathy apprised the Central team of the progress made till date.
While the Central Government has sanctioned Rs 1,2.96,408 grant for the e-assembly project, the State Government is bearing 40% of the expenditure.
The review meeting revealed that the funds have been expended on purchasing 66 computer sets for the Assembly Secretariat, video conferencing facility in the House and modernization of LAN as well as WiFi facilities.
State Electronics and Information & Technology Secretary Manoj Mishra informed the Central team that the e-assembly project is being undertaken with the technical support from OCAC.
The Reporting unit, Business Proceeding unit and Question-Answer unit of Odisha Assembly are being fully computerized while the staff are being imparted training on handling the e-assembly process aptly.
The Union Parliamentary Affairs Secretary suggested that all the MLAs should also be imparted with the necessary training and the ongoing e-assembly project need to be expedited, a press communiqué released by the Assembly Speaker’s office stated.
