Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has made the e-KYC process mandatory for all farmers registering for the Kharif paddy procurement season, announced Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Tuesday.
The move aims to eliminate impersonators and ensure that only genuine farmers receive procurement benefits and payments.
Minister Patra emphasised that the robust verification process involves biometric authentication, including fingerprint and iris scans, to accurately identify legitimate cultivators.
“Farmers are urged to complete their e-KYC registration by submitting their Aadhaar details and correct bank account information to facilitate smooth and direct payments,” he said.
The e-KYC system will also link farmers to their respective land plots, helping authorities block fraudulent entries and secure the procurement process.
Once completed, the government will have clear data on the extent of impersonation attempts in the state.
“This initiative is crucial for maintaining transparency and protecting the interests of genuine farmers during the Kharif paddy season,” Patra added.
