Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday suspended two polling officials in Odisha for their alleged dereliction of duty.
According to, Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal, one of the two suspended polling officials is from Narla Aassembly constituency in Kalahandi district, while the other is from Ganjam district.
“We are monitoring the poll process through webcasting and a minor group clash incident was reported from the Chikiti area in Ganjam district. I have spoken to Berhampur SP and Ganjam Collector and asked them to ensure that voting continues smoothly in the Berhampur LS constituency, especially in the Chikiti area,” Dhal told the media today.
Dhal appealed to the electorate to exercise their franchise in large numbers as the voter turnout in the Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency was low. “There were a few technical glitches in EVMs in some places during the initial hours but the situation has stabilised, he said.
