Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) today celebrated 150 years of “Vande Mataram” with profound patriotic fervour and reverence through a mass singing of the iconic national song at Rail Sadan, Bhubaneswar.
The atrium of the North Block reverberated with the collective voices of officers, staff, and school children singing “Vande Mataram” in unison. The stirring rendition filled the atmosphere with emotion and pride, paying tribute to Bharat Mata and reflecting the spirit of unity, devotion, and sacrifice that the song embodies.
The General Manager, along with senior officers and employees, participated in the event, reaffirming the enduring legacy of “Vande Mataram” as a timeless anthem of India’s freedom and national identity. The gathering paid homage to the countless freedom fighters who drew strength and inspiration from this immortal song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
School students added youthful enthusiasm to the occasion, while the tricolour decorations and patriotic ambience of Rail Sadan created an emotionally charged atmosphere. The event served as a heartfelt expression of gratitude and pride in India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
Following the mass singing, the Prime Minister addressed the nation, reflecting on the historical significance and emotional power of “Vande Mataram” as a symbol of India’s unity and strength. The General Manager, senior officials, employees, school children, and others present at the event listened to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address with great reverence and patriotic pride. His inspiring words further deepened the spirit of nationalism and collective commitment among all present.
The mass singing of “Vande Mataram” was also organized across all Divisions, Workshops, and various Railway Stations under East Coast Railway. The song was played across stations, allowing passengers and railway staff to join in the moment of national pride and unity. The simultaneous observance throughout the zone transformed the day into a celebration of collective spirit and patriotic devotion, reaffirming the ideals of “Nation First, Always First.”
