Bhubaneswar: The booking of unreserved tickets through mobile App ‘UTS on Mobile’ in East Coast Railway (ECoR) jurisdiction has gone up to 9,62,319 up to December, 17, 2019, which is 315 per cent more than the last year.
As per an official communique from ECoR, the Unreserved Ticket Booking in East Coast Railway jurisdiction has set a margin after implementation of this App. The unreserved ticket booking through mobile phone was only 3,05,510 up to December 31, 2018.
Till December 17 of this year, 5,26,377 passengers have booked unreserved tickets through mobile phone in Khurda Road Division, 3,68,713 passengers in Waltair Division and 67,230 passengers in Sambalpur Division under ECoR jurisdiction.
In 2018, UTS Tickets booked through Mobile Phone in Khurda Road Division was 1,63,994, in Waltair Division was 1,24,955 and in Sambalpur Division was 16,561.
The above figure suggests that number of passengers are booking unreserved train tickets through UTS Mobile App, which is officially owned by Indian Railways, and this figure is still growing due to continuous awareness by Railways through different media.
UTS train tickets can be booked between 20 meters and 5 Kms radius from the Boarding Station and passengers can book tickets from the originating Stations to any destination Station over Indian Railways except Konkan Railway.
The UTS app launched last year has enabled paperless ticketing of Unreserved Tickets for the passengers. Now passengers prefer to book unreserved train tickets through the app without standing at the Booking Counter in a queue.
