Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and connectivity, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the phased restoration of several important train stoppages starting from September 1, 2025. This decision comes in response to widespread public demand and feedback from local representatives, seeking improved access to rail services at key stations.
The restored stoppages, which were previously withdrawn, will be reintroduced across various routes to make rail travel more accessible and comfortable for passengers. The phased reinstatement is expected to benefit daily commuters as well as long-distance travelers in the region.
Among the notable changes, the Puri-Shalimar Dhauli Express (Train No. 12822) will resume its halt at Markona station beginning September 1. Similarly, the Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express (Train No. 12872) will restore its stoppage at Bagdehi station on the same date. The Jagdalpur-Howrah Express (Train No. 18006) will reinstate stops at Bisra and Rajkharsawan Junction from September 1 as well.
Other significant updates include the Gunupur-Rourkela Rajyarani Express (Train No. 18118) resuming its halt at Bagdehi station, and the Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Utkal Express (Train No. 18477) recommencing stops at Basta and Bisra stations, both effective September 1.
Additional stoppages will be restored in the following days: the Puri-Shalimar Sri Jagannath Express (Train No. 18410) will halt again at Rupsa Junction starting September 2, while the Puri-Patna Baidyanathdham Express (Train No. 18449) will resume stops at Burnpur station from the same date. Later in the month, the Visakhapatnam-Digha Express (Train No. 22874) will restore its stop at Jaleswar station from September 5, followed by the Puri-Digha Express (Train No. 22890), which will resume halts at Jaleswar station from September 7.
Indian Railways has urged travelers to take note of these updates to take advantage of the enhanced rail services. The initiative reflects ECoR’s ongoing commitment to responding to passenger needs and improving connectivity across its network.
