Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested a business partner of Archana Nag who has been arrested along with her husband Jagabandhu Chand on charges of extortion.
The accused Khageswar Patra had done many bank transactions amounting to lakhs of rupees with Archana since 2017. The ED has the evidence of the transactions. ED is likely to take Patra on remand.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has sought a report from the ED in connection with the case. The SIT, under chairmanship of Justice Arijit Pasayat, will hold a meeting on the case on November 13.
It is pertinent to mention that Archana faces allegations of extorting money from rich and influential people in the state, including politicians, businessmen and film producers.
The ED had registered a case against Archana and verified her bank statements. She and her husband allegedly amassed assets worth Rs 30 crore within four years by blackmailing influential people.
