Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday arrested Archana Nag, accused of blackmailing people while running a sex racket, under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act after producing her in court following the completion of 7-day remand.
The ED moved the court for extension of Nag’s remand and the custody of her husband Jagabandhu Chand. The court of ADJ here, granted the ED six-day remand of Nag while 9-day remand was allowed for Chand, reports stated.
According to sources, the ED had requested the court to take Jagabandhu on remand for 15 days and Archana for a further period of seven days. The Central agency also appraised the court that it arrested Archana under the Money-Laundering Act.
Sources said that the ED has plans to quiz the couple face-to-face on the alleged illegal financial transactions and the property they have amassed in a short period of time.
