Bhubaneswar: Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids at five locations in Odisha in connection with the Artha Tatwa (AT) chit fund scam case.
According to sources, ED sleuths carried out search operations in at least five places, including three locations in Bhubaneswar. One of the three locations of Bhubaneswar includes the office of a newspaper organization.
Besides, the office of a builder is also being raided by the central probe agency in connection with the chit fund scam.
The agency officials have examined several files and documents during the search operations at different locations, sources revealed.
Notably, the owner of the organisation had been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and sent to jail in the case. He was later released on bail.
It may be noted that as many as 44 chit-fund firms operated in different parts of the country including in Odisha and West Bengal had come under the scanner of the CBI and ED. Artha Tatwa was one of these outfits. The ED had earlier carried out raids at several places in connection with the Artha Tatwa chit fund and attached property worth more than Rs 133 crore.
After a long gap, the ED has once again opened the AT chit fund file after getting some vital information on the involvement of other persons in this case, sources said.
