Bolangir: In a shocking and despicable act, miscreants hurled eggs on the cavalcade of Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik in Bolangir on Monday evening.

Reportedly, the incident occurred near Salebhata when Naveen Patnaik was on his way to Bargarh after conducting a roadshow in Bolangir. Youths, who had pre-planned the act and were waiting in hiding, hurled eggs on the carcade. Though the eggs did not hit the CM's vehicle, some private cars were hit in the process.

Following this, tension gripped the area and cops had to resort to lathicharge.

Soon after, former MP Balagopal Mishra and his supporters including his son were held for their involvement in the incident. In 1989, Balagopal Mishra was the Member of Parliament from Bolangir Lok Sabha seat with a Janata Dal ticket.
