The SGSY scheme aims to provide sustainable income to rural poor families through self-employment and integrate them into self-help groups (SHGs) with training, credit, technology, infrastructure, and marketing support. However, the accused individuals allegedly didn’t purchase the cows and instead embezzled the government funds meant for the scheme.

The accused were charge-sheeted under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act and were produced before the Special Judge Vigilance, Cuttack. Two other accused, including a government servant and an approved supplier, are also involved in the misappropriation and are facing trial.
