**Berhampur: ** Eight MLAs of Congress had gone to meet the former Odisha Congress MLA Ramesh Jena who is in Chhatrapur sub-jail in Ganjam district, who was arrested by the police in March 2016 for alleged land grabbing and illegal firearms cases.
“Ramesh Jena is a former MLA of Congress who has been falsely framed in various cases ranging from murder to rape. There was grave injustice meted out in his case.We came to meet him in the jail to give moral support and send a clear message that the Congress party is still with him. We discussed about the various cases in which he was falsely framed. The police have terrorized the people of Ganjam, so no one is willing to stand for the panchayati elections here. We came here for supporting our cause,” informed Congress Chief Whip exclusively to OMMCOM NEWS.
Ramesh Jena allegedly groomed a horde of henchmen in Ganjam, the home-turf of Odisha’s CM, to execute his illegal activities like land grabbing, extortion, blackmailing, illegal firearms possession, etc. He got arrested in March 2016 from a flat in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, Congress leader Taraprasad Bahinipati had cited to the media persons that they had come to Gopalpur and had made a courtesy call without any intention and met the SP and DIG.The eight MLAs including the chief whip planned to meet Ramesh Jena on their way to Gopalpur.
