Nabarangpur: Eight persons have been arrested in Nabarangpur district for thrashing a youth and stubbing lit cigarettes on his private part after tying him over allegations of having an illicit relationship with his friend’s wife.
The accused persons have been identified as Anand Goud, Mahadeb Paik, Jagannath Goud, Indra Goud, Benu Goud, Puran Goud, Butu Goud, and Jayaram Goud, all residents of Sindhiguda village.
Reportedly on February 28, the victim and his friend Anand Goud were having liquor together when the latter accused him of having an illicit relationship with his wife.
Anand subsequently called a few of his associates and all of them tied the victim to a pole, stripped him naked. Later, they thrashed him and stubbed lit cigarettes on his genital before letting him go.
While the victim was silent over it, someone had uploaded a video of the incident on the internet. As the video went viral, the victim lodged a complaint in this regard at Maidalpur Police Outpost today.
Based on the complaint, police identified the perpetrators through the video and apprehended them. A case has been registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at Papadahandi Police Station.
