Sambalpur: Around seven miscreants looted an elderly couple of cash and gold ornaments after tying them in their house near Sambalpur City railway station on Friday. The incident has been captured on a CCTV camera.
Reportedly, the miscreants had arrived at the house of Shyam Sundar Dalmia yesterday. After some altercation, they attacked him and tied his hands and legs, and also covered his mouth. They also tied his wife and carried out the loot.
The couple’s son was sleeping on the upper floor of the house but was unaware of the happenings. The miscreants managed to decamp with Rs 60,000 cash and jewellery amounting to Rs 10 lakh.
On getting information, police reached the spot and collected the CCTV footage. A probe has been initiated into the matter.
