Bhubaneswar: A 75-year-old man attempted suicide by consuming phenyl outside the Lok Seva Bhavan here on Wednesday. The person identified as Rabindra Das of Jagatsinghpur used to stay at Kalinga Vihar here. He had started a salon with an investment of Rs 5.12 lakh.
According to Das, miscreants have attacked and looted him in a bid to usurp his business. Repeated pleas fell into the deaf ears of the police, alleged Das adding that he had no option left than to end his life. Das was rescued by police personnel and rushed to Capital Hospital where he underwent treatment and survived.
