Elderly Man Drowns In Baitarani River In Jajpur

Jajpur: In a tragic incident, an elderly man drowned in the swelling waters of the Baitarani River on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Bhagabat Majhi (72), a resident of Majhi Sahi in Katikata village in Jajpur district.

According to reports, Bhagabat had gone to the riverbank near his house to perform rituals when he accidentally slipped and fell into the floodwaters. Despite frantic efforts by locals, he could not be immediately rescued.

After a prolonged search, villagers managed to pull him out of the river and rushed him to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital. However, he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Katikata village, with residents mourning the untimely demise of the elderly man.
