Bhubaneswar: An elderly man drowned on Monday while bathing near a pond at Narda village under Ramchandrapur police station limits in Keonjhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Kirtan Behera of Narda village.
According to sources, Behera was bathing alone on the pond’s edge when he accidentally slipped into the water on Monday night.
Upon not returning home on time, the family members of Behera started searching for his whereabouts when they discovered his corpse floating on the surface of the pond.
The police officials have initiated an investigation into the matter after confiscating the body.
Behera’s dead body was sent to the nearest hospital for autopsy.
