Bhubaneswar: In yet another tragic accident, an elderly man was run over by a speeding ‘Ama Bus’ at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar. The vehicle dragged the 55-year-old Trinath Barik of Bhimatangi area to few metres before fleeing the spot.

The incident sparked public outrage as locals blocked roads in protest, placing the victim’s body on the road. The mob vandalised some other buses by pelting stones, shattering its windows.

Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said that the driver of the Ama Bus has been arrested and the bus has been seized. The accused driver will be forwarded to court tomorrow.
