Sundargarh: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, an elderly was reportedly killed by a tusker in Gujapal Munda Sahi of the S Balang section of Banei forest area in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
According to reports, Situ Kisan of Kulkuta village had gone to Munda Sahi of Gujapal village to collect the mohua (mohul) seeds on Monday morning when he suddenly encountered a herd of elephants. One of the elephants attacked Situ Kisan and killed him with its tusk.
On being informed about the gory incident by the villagers, Tikayat Pali police personnel and the Forest department staff reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, villagers in the region are in a state of panic fearing more such attacks. They have requested the Forest department to drive the elephant herd from the area at the earliest.
