Bhubaneswar: An elderly man was mauled to death by three bears in a forest at Kolipasi village under Ghatagaon Range in Keonjhar district on Thursday morning.
The victim, identified as Nunu Nayak, had gone to the forest to collect leaves for his goats when he was suddenly attacked by the bears. The attack resulted in severe injuries to his head and abdomen, and he succumbed to his injuries on the very spot.
Locals who were nearby collecting mushrooms heard Nayak’s screams for help. By the time they reached for his rescue, the latter was mauled to death.
Upon being informed, forest department and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
