Sundergarh: An elderly man was killed while a woman suffered serious injuries after an attacked them at Sundargarh Sadar Forest Range on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Alar Kullu and the woman is Salmi Giddhi.
Alar Kullu faced the attack of the animal while he was asleep. When the old man ran out of the house in fear, the elephant caught him with its trunk and crushed him to death.
In separate incident, woman Salmi Giddhi went out to defecate early in the morning while jumbo dragged her in the trunk and blew her up. She has been admitted to a local hospital in a critical condition.
For the past few days, two tuskers were seen roaming in various parts of the Sundargarh Forest Range. Recently, vehicular traffic was halted on Biju Expressway near Bhojpur due to the movement of the elephants on the road.
